Ambassador Li Baodong, President of the UN Security Council for the month of June and China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, chaired a Security Council debate on Afghanistan on 27 June. The meeting heard the briefings by Mr. Herve Ladsous, Under Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations and Mr. Yury Fedotov, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. Representatives of nearly 30 countries and organizations including Security Council members and Afghanistan made statements at the meeting.
