President,
I would like to share four points.
First, at present, unilateralism, protectionism and acts of hegemony are rampant, undermining multilateralism, international cooperation and the status of the UN. In this context, the implementation of the Pact for the Future also faces huge challenges. The international community must strengthen solidarity, build consensus, and take the implementation of the Pact for the Future as an opportunity to promote multilateralism, improve global governance and strengthen the role of the UN.
Second, the Pact for the Future involves the three pillars of the UN, which are interwoven, and must be promoted in a coordinated and balanced manner. Developing countries have expressed strong concerns about the fact that two thirds of SDG targets are lagging. The international community must strengthen its sense of urgency and, through implementing the Pact for the Future, increase investment and development partnerships, and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 agenda.
Third, the UN has just successfully held the UN Ocean Conference and the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, and Peacebuilding Architecture Review is ongoing. A number of other important conferences will also be held, such as the High-Level Conference on the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the World Social Summit. These processes cover many areas included in the Pact for the Future, and their outcomes will inject new impetus into its implementation. The implementation of the Pact for the Future must therefore be closely coordinated and synergized with these processes.
Fourth, China supports the review of the overall implementation of the Pact for the Future in 2028 as required by the Pact itself. The UN Secretariat, in consultation with Member States, may organize activities in various formats at global, regional and national levels to prepare for the review. We hope that the review will become a platform for Member States to summarize experiences and formulate plans, to ensure that the implementation of the Pact for the Future advances the interests of all Member States, and strengthens the role of the UN.
In conclusion, I wish to reiterate that China stands ready to work with all parties towards continued fresh results in the implementation of the Pact for the Future.
Thank you.
