President,

I thank you for convening this meeting.

China has listened attentively to Ms. Annalena Baerbock's comprehensive vision for the work of the 80th session of the General Assembly.

With the surge of unilateralism and hegemonic behaviors, multilateralism and international cooperation are facing strong headwinds. The UN's role and status should only be strengthened, not weakened. The General Assembly is the most representative Charter body. The President of the General Assembly bears significant responsibilities, and it is important to do the following.

First, abide by the purposes and principles of the Charter, discharge the duties of the office objectively and impartially, and serve the common interests of all member states, not the selfish interests of a few.

Second, practice multilateralism, resist unilateralism, promote solidarity among member states, and advance the work of the three pillars in a balanced manner.

Third, adhere to the leadership of member states, maintain openness and transparency, enhance dialogue and consultation, work on the basis of consensus, and refrain from pushing a contentious agenda.

Fourth, promote the UN reform, advance a more just and reasonable global governance system, attach greater importance to addressing the concerns of developing countries, and keep increasing their voice and representation.

China wishes to ask one question:

If you assume the presidency of UNGA80, how would you lead the General Assembly in countering the impact of unilateralism and upholding the authority and status of the UN, especially in accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development?
