Mr. President,

China wishes to express its appreciation to Assistant Administrator Ms.Kanni Wignaraja for the introduction of China's country programme of new cycle, and commends the work undertaken by UNDP, particularly its Representative Office in China, in this process. We also thank the members of the Executive Board for their participation and contributions. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of my team.

China continues to face prominent challenges of insufficient and unbalanced development, with disparities remaining in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in remote regions and among vulnerable populations. The experience and valuable practices of UNDP are crucial. China's Country Programme with UNDP focuses on practical needs such as poverty reduction, rural revitalization, green development, and low-carbon transition,etc. It fully reflects national ownership and leadership, aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for China. The formulation process has been open and transparent, with extensive consultations held in both Beijing and New York to ensure broad participation.

As the largest developing country and the second-largest contributor to the UN assessed  contribution, China has consistently provided voluntary contributions to UNDP, demonstrating its commitment to upholding the UN's development pillar through concrete actions. China remains a developing country and will long uphold its identity as a developing country. In accordance with the relevant rules and decisions of the Executive Board,China will continue to cooperate with UNDP through the country programme, deepen this collaboration and advance the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through triangular cooperation.

In today's world of interwoven transformations and upheavals, sustainable development financing faces a significant shortfall. Revitalizing multilateralism and supporting the UN's development pillar is more urgent than ever. The Executive Board and its members bear significant responsibility in this regard. China calls upon the Executive Board, under the leadership of the President, to place development at the center of its agenda, focus on institutional governance, adhere to the important principle of consensug, support the review and approval of China's country programme.We should oppose political manipulation and collectively send a united voice in support of multilateralism on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
