President,

China thanks all the panelists for their valuable presentations and commends the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States for its dedicated efforts. At present, global development is confronted with numerous challenges. The international community should strengthen solidarity and cooperation, place development at the center of the international agenda, and support African countries, least developed countries, and landlocked developing countries in achieving sustainable development.

First, we should uphold openness and cooperation rather than build walls and barriers. The international community should support open markets, reduce trade barriers, and create more development opportunities for developing countries. China has granted 100-percent zero-tariff treatment to all products from all least developed countries having diplomatic relations with China, and since 1 May 2026, has extended such treatment to all African countries having diplomatic relations with China, enabling the countries to better share the opportunities offered by the Chinese market and achieve common economic development.

Second, we should strengthen countries' capacity for self-sustaining development rather than rely on short-term relief. The international community should give equal priority to emergency assistance and long-term development, increase investment in infrastructure, clean energy, digital technology and other key sectors, strengthen disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation capacity, and enhance the endogenous drivers of development in developing countries. Since the Global Development Initiative was proposed, it has mobilized more than USD 23 billion in funding, launched over 1,800 cooperation projects, organized more than 10,000 capacity-building programs, and trained over 200,000 professionals, providing comprehensive support for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Third, we should strengthen solidarity and cooperation rather than widen the development gap. The international community should support the United Nations in playing its central role, maintain a development-oriented approach in the UN80 reform process, fully respond to the development needs of the countries concerned, and continue narrowing the digital divide, the technological divide, and the development gap. China is committed to enhancing international cooperation in scientific and technological innovation, the digital economy, and other fields. China will also host the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in the coming days and looks forward to working with all parties to improve global governance in these areas and enhance the representation and voice of developing countries.

As an African proverb says, "If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together." China stands ready to work with all parties to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and make positive contributions to global common development.
