President,
China thanks Executive Director Jorge Moreira da Silva for his presentation. We commend UNOPS for drafting the new cycle Strategic Plan in close alignment with the requirements of the Quadrennial Comprehensive Policy Review (QCPR) of the UN development system. We encourage UNOPS to leverage its comparative advantages in providing efficient and high-quality solutions to the UN system, enhancing project implementation efficiency and quality, assisting developing countries in strengthening infrastructure development, and supporting their equitable participation in UN procurement activities, thereby collectively advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
China notes that the third-party audit report on the Comprehensive Response Plan indicates that the majority of reform recommendations pertaining to UNOPS have been effectively implemented. We acknowledge UNOPS’s proactive efforts in implementing reform outcomes, with a focus on rebuilding a culture of integrity, refining oversight and accountability mechanisms, continuously strengthening internal governance, and enhancing institutional operational capacity.
China stands ready to deepen cooperation with UNOPS and work with all parties to enhance practical collaboration in areas such as poverty eradication, infrastructure, clean energy, and procurement, etc., so as to jointly accelerate the realization of the SDGs.
Thank you.
