On June 2, the International Bazaar, organized by the United Nations Delegations Spouses Club, was held at UN Headquarters. Ambassador Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, attended the opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the invitation of the organizer.

In an interview, Ambassador Fu said that diplomats from various countries, UN staff, and visitors all stopped by the Chinese booths to enjoy Chinese cuisine, appreciate Chinese art, and experience Chinese culture, providing a vivid example of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. He noted that all proceeds from the bazaar would be donated to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to support humanitarian and development causes around the world, fully demonstrating the strong support of all parties for the UN and multilateralism.

The Chinese Mission showcased a wide array of traditional handicrafts, including elegant porcelain, colorful Tang-style garments, and inscribed folding fans. Traditional Chinese delicacies such as walnut cookies, sachima, and the classic Sichuan dish Mapo Tofu proved especially popular among customers. Through the rich intangible cultural heritage and authentic cuisine, the Chinese booths served as a bridge for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, vividly putting the Global Civilization Initiative into practice while bringing people from different countries closer together.

This year’s bazaar received strong support from the wife of UN Secretary-General António Guterres. More than 40 countries and international organizations, including China, participated in the event. President of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock, along with permanent representatives from many countries, attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
