On the evening of September 29, the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations was festively decorated for a grand celebration of the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Ambassador Fu Cong, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, and his wife, together with Ambassador Sun Lei, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Earle Courtenay Rattray, Chef de Cabinet of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, eight other UN Under-Secretaries-General, Permanent Representatives to the United Nations from more than 100 countries, and over 400 friends from various sectors in the Eastern United States gathered together to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In his remarks, Ambassador Fu said that over the past 77 years, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, hundreds of millions of Chinese people have worked tirelessly in pursuit of national rejuvenation, remained committed to openness and cooperation and innovation-driven development, successfully embarked on a path of Chinese modernization, and achieved remarkable accomplishments that have drawn worldwide attention. China has not only pursued its own development, but has also actively engaged with the world. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the restoration of the lawful seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations. China has always been a staunch supporter of the United Nations, and has successively put forward and taken the lead in implementing the four global initiatives, offering Chinese solutions for addressing the deficits in peace and security, development and global governance. China stands ready to work with all countries to firmly uphold multilateralism and support the cause of the United Nations, and to jointly build a community with a shared future for humanity.

Guests at the reception watched promotional videos on China's bid to host the Secretariat of the Agreement on Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ), as well as short videos showcasing China's national image, the APEC "China Year," innovation-driven development under Chinese modernization, and other themes. They warmly congratulated China on the remarkable achievements made over the 77 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China. A number of senior UN officials and Permanent Representatives voluntarily gave interviews, speaking highly of China's contributions to the United Nations and the cause of multilateralism.
