President,
China supports the points made by the Russian Federation. I wish to stress that Security Council resolution 2231 expired and terminated on 18 October 2025, and that the Security Council has ceased its consideration of the Iranian nuclear issue. The President of the Security Council has no mandate to draft the so-called 90-day report and report to the Security Council.
China regrets to see that huge differences remain among Security Council members on the above-mentioned issues. Certain countries have chosen to turn a blind eye to this and insisted on pushing the Council to restore sanctions against Iran and to convene a meeting under an agenda item that has already been terminated. Such actions will not only deepen divisions within the Council, but also seriously obstruct the political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue. China is gravely concerned about and strongly opposed to such actions.
China urges Security Council members to faithfully implement the “Termination Day” measures under resolution 2231, uphold the authority of the Security Council and the credibility of multilateral diplomacy, and create favorable conditions for the political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.
Thank you, President.
