Statement by Ambassador Wang Min, Deputy Permanent Representative of China at the 2013 UN Pledging Conference for Development Activities

2013-11-11 06:57

Mr. President,

Adequate, stable and predictable level of resources and a rational resource structure are the prerequisite for the improvement of the resource situation of the UN development system as well as the core concern of the developing countries. Parties concerned in development assistance should take effective measures to improve financing for development by both increasing the quantity of core resources and improving the quality of non-core resources.

As a responsible developing country, China has actively supported the UN in playing a bigger role in international affairs. We have always attached importance to cooperation with the UN development system. To the best of our capacity, we have kept increasing donations to the core resources of relevant funds, programs and agencies of the UN and tried to ensure their early allocation.

In 2014, the Chinese government will maintain its support for the work of the UN development system and institutions. Once my government's donation to relevant funds, programs and agencies of the UN is approved by our National People's Congress, it will be fulfilled as soon as possible.

Thank you, Mr. President.
