Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang's Comment on Koizumi Implying Visit to Yasukuni Shrine within This Year

2005-09-30 00:00

Q: It is reported that Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi recently implied once more he would visit the Yasukuni Shrine within this year, and alleged China's opposition to his visit was politically motivated, since it was reluctant to see greater political influence of Japan. What comment does China have?

A: The people of Asian countries oppose to the visit to the Yasukuni Shrine by Japanese leader, because the Shrine worships class A war criminals. The hands of these war criminals are tainted with the blood of the people of various countries, who suffered tremendous scourges of the aggression war waged by Japanese militarists. It is obvious to see what the visit to Yasukuni Shrine by the Japanese prime minister means to the victimized people.
