On November 11, 2017 local time, Director-General of the Department of International Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Zhang Jun held a briefing for Chinese and foreign media at the press center of the Chinese delegation, introducing relevant information on President Xi Jinping's attendance at the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and answering questions. The briefing was chaired by Counselor of the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xiaojun.

Zhang Jun expressed that this meeting has achieved positive outcomes, maintained the general direction of the open development for the Asia-Pacific, consolidated the momentum of APEC cooperation, and advanced practical cooperation under the APEC framework, which was a success. China attaches great importance to this meeting. President Xi Jinping attended the whole meeting, put forward a series of important thoughts and proposals on building an open Asia-Pacific economy, promoting the innovative, interconnected and inclusive Asia-Pacific development, deepening the Asia-Pacific partnership, as well as drawing up a vision for Asia-Pacific development, and exchanged in-depth views with leaders of other states, reaching numerous important consensus. Leaders of many states spoke highly of the significance of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) as well as the ideas and proposals put forward by President Xi Jinping, harbored positive expectations to China's development prospects, and expected to participate in the international cooperation under the "Belt and Road" initiative, so as to jointly promote the prosperity and development in the Asia-Pacific region.

In answer to the question of what opportunities China will bring to the Asia-Pacific when it opens a new journey after the 19th CPC National Congress, Zhang Jun expressed that China's innovation and development will inject new impetus into the Asia-Pacific development, and the new round of all-facet opening-up will provide the Asia-Pacific region with a broader market. China will substantially ease market access and spare no efforts to improve the business environment, so as to create new opportunities for all Asia-Pacific members to invest in China. In the next 15 years, China is expected to import commodities of 24 trillion US dollars and absorb foreign direct investment of 2 trillion US dollars. The total volume of investment in foreign countries will reach 2 trillion US dollars. China will create new opportunities for and make new contributions to the inclusive and sustainable development in Asia-Pacific region.

When answering what impacts the vigorous promotion of building a community with shared future for mankind and of the "Belt and Road" construction will have on the Asia-Pacific cooperation, Zhang Jun said that to promote the building of a community with shared future for mankind is the general goal of the major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era. China will, with greater efforts, work hand in hand with all parties to build a clean and beautiful world with lasting peace, universal security, common prosperity, openness and inclusiveness. The "Belt and Road" initiative is China's major theoretical innovation and practical innovation in promoting the building of a community with shared future for mankind, as well as an important public product that China provides for the world. The "Belt and Road" construction will provide unprecedented opportunities for cooperation in promoting connectivity in the Asia-Pacific region, opening up new growth points, building an open Asia-Pacific economy and deepening the Asia-Pacific partnership.
