Ambassador Li Baodong, Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, Presents His Credentials to the Scretary-General of the United Nations

On March 4, 2010, Ambassador Li Baodong, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.  

Ambassador Li said that the United Nations is the most universal, representative and authoritative intergovernmental organization in the world. China always advocates multilateralism and values the important role played by the United Nations. China firmly supports the United Nations in playing a core role in international affairs, supports maintenance and strengthening of UN authority and will make continued contribution to the work of UN organs and agencies.

Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon welcomed Ambassador Li to the UN family. He expressed thanks for China's long-term support for the United Nations. He highly commended China's contribution to disaster relief in Haiti. He also highly appreciated China's leadership role in achieving the MDGs, responding to climate change and in other areas such as public health and disaster relief. Satisfied with the cooperation between the UN and China, Mr. Ban said that the work of the UN couldn't be accomplished without China's participation and support and that he would continue to expand his organization's cooperation with China.
