On May 14, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with King Norodom Sihamoni of Cambodia at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China-Cambodia friendship shows the true friendship between countries and their peoples to the whole world, and will become a touching story widely praised for thousands of years in building a community with a shared future for mankind. The Chinese side cherishes its special friendship with the Cambodian royal family. We should well inherit and carry forward the close friendship forged by several generations of Chinese leaders and King Father Norodom Sihanouk, so that China-Cambodia friendship can be passed on from generation to generation. The Chinese side will as always support Cambodia in choosing a development path suitable to its national conditions, and stands ready to work with the Cambodian side to constantly elevate China-Cambodia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new stages. Both sides should well implement the action plan for building a China-Cambodia community with a shared future to benefit the two peoples, and set an example for countries to respect each other's cultural diversity and promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

Norodom Sihamoni thanked the Chinese government and its people for their profound friendship with the Cambodian royal family and for their long-term precious support and help to the Cambodian people. The Cambodian people will firmly stand together with the Chinese people under any circumstances. Cambodia congratulates the People's Republic of China on the great achievements it has made since its founding 70 years ago, appreciates the important role China has played in international affairs, and firmly supports the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. The Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations under President Xi Jinping's proposal will play a significant role in promoting cultural exchanges and mutual learning among countries.
